A statement from Bently Paiz, candidate for Texas House District 120, on accountability, civil rights, and the rule of law.

I am running for the Texas House to ensure we use every lawful tool available to hold ICE accountable from top to bottom.

No badge, job title, or chain of command puts anyone above the law. We will investigate and refer for criminal prosecution any ICE agent, supervisor, recruiter, or contractor who has violated constitutional rights, abused their authority, or participated in unlawful detention, mistreatment, or deception.

This is about accountability, not politics.

If you participated, you will be scrutinized.

If you enabled it, you will be exposed.

If you ordered it, you will be held responsible.

I will push for independent investigations, full transparency, and real consequences. That means ending internal slaps on the wrist, quiet reassignments, and immunity through bureaucracy. Justice does not stop at the doors of a federal agency.

Following illegal orders is not a defense. “I just started” is not a shield. The law applies to everyone, or it applies to no one at all.

My goal is simple. I will work to end impunity, restore civil rights, and ensure that no government agency operates through fear, secrecy, or abuse ever again.

This is the standard I will fight for in office—and the accountability Texans deserve. Bently Paiz
